ATDP advocates are specifically trained in Military Advocacy, through a nationally accredited Course in Military Advocacy (11019NAT).
Wellbeing advocates Level 1 and 2 are trained to assist serving and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their dependants to connect with government and community-based services.
Compensation advocates Levels 1 to 4 may, according to their level of training, provide advice and assist serving and ex-serving ADF members and their dependants with rehabilitation and compensation claims. They can also represent serving and ex-serving ADF members and their dependents before the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) or Veterans' Review Board (VRB) in relation to decisions of the Repatriation Commission or the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission.

You can find the contact details of Organisations who can link you with qualified ATDP advocates. The AR also includes information regarding the different types of advocates ie compensation or wellbeing, and the number available by Organisation and the Advocates level of competency. Detailed information can be found on the "About Advocate Levels" page on the AR.

There are a number of ways to search for an advocate on the AR. You can search by postcode, location, organisation and State. You can also contact an Organisation by email or call them directly using the details listed in the register by Organisation.

The AR enables Organisations to self-manage their listings of accredited advocates and Organisation contact details in an efficient, accurate and secure way. It also supports Organisations and advocates to ensure advocates knowledge remains current through Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

• The request for an ex-service organisation (Organisation) to be set up in the ATDP Advocate Register (AR) needs to come from the President of the club in writing
• Contact details and name of Authorised Person/s need to be supplied (for AR purposes)
• Declaration/evidence that veteran wellbeing is at the core of the organisation
• Declaration/evidence that membership consists primarily of Australian veterans, past and present members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF), and/or their dependants
• Declaration that the organisation does not charge a fee for service

Most Organisations with ATDP accredited advocates are already listed on the AR. If your Organisation is not listed, email ADVOCACY.TRAINING@dva.gov.au and provide the details of your Organisation. Once listed, your Organisation will be able to maintain the details that appear on the AR. Please make sure your Organisation is not already listed before calling.

The authorised person at each Organisation listed in the AR can update their Organisation's and advocate's details through a secure personal login page. If you need any help please email ADVOCACY.TRAINING@dva.gov.au.

Only ATDP trained advocates are included in the AR. The authorised representative at the Organisation will be able to provide you with information, including advice on the qualifications of the advocate they assign to assist you. Individual advocates should also be able to produce their Statement of Attainment if asked.

As of 1 July 2025 there were 326 Organisations listed with qualified ATDP advocates on the register. For details about how many advocates there are nationally, please see the front page of the ATDP website www.atdp.org.au

The ATDP provides training in Military Advocacy, for members of Organisations which offer advocacy services to serving and ex-serving members of the ADF and their dependants. The program is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Your Organisation is not listed	There are several reasons why your Organisation may not appear and the best solution is to contact us through ADVOCACY.TRAINING@dva.gov.au
Your Organisation is listed but the number and type of advocate working through your Organisation is not what you think it should be,	Your Authorised Person is responsible for assigning trained advocates to your Organisation’s profile, an advocate can be assigned to more than one Organisation

Within your Organisation's profile (only available through a secure personal login page) the list of advocates that you have linked to your Organisation will list qualified advocates first and their names will be coloured green. Any advocates still in training will have their names in grey.

No. Only contact details for the Organisation and how many advocates are registered to work for the Organisation are available. Only the Authorised Person for an Organisation has access to that Organisation's profile.

Trainees must be affiliated with a nominating Organisation for the duration of the Course in Military Advocacy. Nomination and affiliation are at the discretion of the Organisation. If an Organisation or trainee cease their affiliation with each other at any stage of the training program, the trainee will be unable to continue until the Organisation reinstates its endorsement or an alternative Organisation makes a nomination.
